The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. The Last Hurrah

Like Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burned around him, the membership of the MMOGTA feasted one last time, as the National economy crumbled, the stock market fell, and the government scrambled to find institutions that needed our money more than they think we do. It’s not that we’re immune to it all, we just had better things to do that weekend. It may sound bitter, but some of us at the lower end of the economic food chain might find those over-privileged execs at the top more deserving of a reality check than a bailout check. In fact, if any of those high rollers came floating over Fergus suspended from a “golden parachute”, they’d be well advised to fly a zig-zag pattern to avoid taking any bird shot to the ‘chute on the way down.

Be that as it may, we all gathered on the 12th of October to celebrate the fruits of our efforts for the year 2008. We call it the Worker’s Appreciation Party. Blessed with summer-like weather and the best efforts of all our talented cooks, it was indeed a feast. While it does commemorate the end of our outdoor activities for the season, it also gives us a chance to reflect on what has been a successful year, thanks to the hard work of our nearly 400 member families. To finish the season in a social setting amongst friends is both privilege and pleasure. For now, we’ll be content to enjoy the moment. Before you know it, we’ll swing those gates wide and usher in the 2009 season. “Tempus Fugit”, they say.
