The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. Little League games are mostly over for the season, bowling leagues are pretty much done, and not too many of us play golf, so what are ya gonna do with all those nice Wednesday evenings all summer? I’m glad you asked! ‘Tis the season for those all-important Wednesday night work bee’s at the showgrounds. This past week, a quick tour revealed an army of people, members and friends, at work all over the place, as ambitious projects are being turned into reality. It was an extremely hot and humid night, with scarcely a whisper of breeze to relieve the guys up to their hips in the muddy trenches that will become the newly mandated drain field for the kitchen. Bear in mind, that most of these guys had already put in their day’s work, and then came to volunteer for our cause. The skilled operators from KMR Excavation in New Lothrop zipped about with their loaders and backhoes, doing battle with tree roots, mud and mosquitoes, while trying to keep the sweat out of their eyes. Mowing machines of various descriptions in various locations went about the endless business of dealing with the lush growth that resulted from plentiful rain and mid-summer heat. A handful of trees and branches that fell victim to a recent storm had to be dealt with, as well. Carl and associates are at work reassembling the donated pole barn that is to be used for lumber storage, which is located just north of the Handle Mill. I hope there’s enough real estate left to park a few tractors, come August. The way all the planets are aligned this year, empty space will be at a premium in the display field. Anybody know what the safe stacking height is for Farmalls ??

The moral of this whole story, in case you missed it, don’t miss out on the opportunity to help out wherever you can, there’s plenty to be done, and all help is appreciated. There’s no better way to feel like a part of the organization.

We leave you with a couple of pics from the most recent work bee. (click individual photos to enlarge)
