2108 RURAL LIVING EDUCATION DAY

On Friday September 28, 2018, the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association hosted its 12th annual Rural Living Education Day program with 600 fourth grade students participating from Christ Lutheran School of Oakley and Chesaning, Durand, Merrill, Millington, Owosso, and St. Charles Public Schools.

At Rural Living Education Day, the students visited 24 different venues where they learned about the machinery, skills, and processes that provided rural families with food, clothing and shelter in the early 1900’s. New additions for the students this year were a new Blacksmith building and we added horses and horse drawn equipment to our venues. This program is put on at no cost to the schools or students and includes a free lunch for all involved. Each student also received a goody bag containing assorted school supplies and many other donated items.

It is through the generous donations of time, money, food, and school supplies made by our MMOGTA members, local businesses, and other individuals that we are able to keep this program free to the schools.

We want to thank the following for their continued support and sponsorship: American Speedy Print, Owosso; Aunt Millie’s Bakery, Saginaw; Burton Corners Mobil Gas, Owosso; Carts R Us, Owosso; Chesaning Sales – Ace Hardware, Chesaning; Coffield Oil Company, Bancroft; D’s Party Store, Oakley; Designs by Bean, Chesaning; Ed Rehmann & Sons, Chesaning; Elaine’s Too Quilt Shop – Elaine Matznick, Ovid; Family Tavern, Oakley; Frank’s Supermarket, Chesaning; Gordon Veale Family, Owosso; Gordon’s Food Co-op – Linda Gross, Elsie; Green Meadow Farms, Elsie; Greenstone Farm Credit, Shiawassee and Saginaw Counties; Heritage Tire, Chesaning; Home Specialist Builders – Rod Lab, Owosso; Indian Café, Chesaning; LAFCU, Owosso; Lloyd Miller & Sons, Corunna; M-13 Storage, New Lothrop; McKenzie Agency, St. Johns; Michigan Pork Producers, Lansing; Owosso Tractor Parts, Owosso; Pennington Farm Drainage, Oakley; R.
