The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. The Road Less Traveled

As you well know, tractor pulling is a big part of what we do at the Mid Mich Old Gas Tractor club. As the hobby has evolved over the years, most have come to view the Transfer Sled as the accepted norm for this type of activity. The T-Sled simply became a necessary time management tool in order to handle the growing numbers of participants. That being said, there are still a number of hobbyists who prefer a different format to showcase their tractors and their engineering skills. As we always say here in Oakley, “It’s a big tent, boys, there’s room for everybody”. On September 22nd, we hosted a very well attended Cement Pull in order to keep alive a sport we have nurtured for nearly 30 years in our area. Many of the time honored tractor pulling principles go right out the window when you change the playing field from a 300 ft. clay track to a 50 ft. concrete strip. You have 30 seconds and about 15 ft. to smoke your tires, to get your weight transferred to the rear wheels, to win or lose before the buzzer sounds. Size matters, power matters, skill and experience matter as well. It has all the makings of a typical “guy thing”. And if you bring those same tires you worked on for 6 hours with the grinder last spring, you’ll probably go home disappointed, because in cement pulling, it’s all about where the rubber meets the road. Take a look at a few sample photos of the diverse hardware that shows up at our annual Fall Classic Cement Pull. (click individual photos to enlarge)
