The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided
to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information.
Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information
on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our
desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we
will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of
each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. Click

BEHIND
THE SCENES
First, let me introduce myself. I am Bill’s wife Dee Koski. Everyone
seems to know who Bill is but you might not know who I am. I don’t
always attend the meetings and you won’t see me on Wednesday
nights or weekends working out at the showgrounds. During the show
you will find me working at the spectator gate, but during the rest
of the year most of my work for the club is done behind the scenes.
For the past few years, I have helped Harriett Romain
with the paper work involved with Education Days. In working with Harriett,
I’ve
come to realize that her job entails year-round, behind the scenes
work that most people are not aware of. This year will also be my 3rd
year of spending several weeks helping Bill and Frank Young proofread
and edit the show book before it goes to print. I doubt many people
are aware of how many hours those two guys put in behind the scenes
getting that book ready each year.
Why do I bring this up and why am I out here writing
on the weekly feature page? Well, there are 2 reasons:
First, I recently volunteered for a new behind the
scenes job in helping Frank with the MMOGTA website. In the month that
I have been working
with Frank, I have learned that there is a lot more involved in keeping
the website updated than most people realize. I also did not know when
I volunteered that once in a while I would be asked to write an article
for this page. I’m not sure this fits into my “behind the
scenes” work ethic, but I am always up for a challenge and am
already looking forward to my next article.
Second, it doesn’t sit well with me when I hear a club member
complain about another club member not doing their fair share for the
club. I believe it is important for members to realize that there is
a lot of work in this organization that goes on behind the scenes and
also, many of the tasks that people do for the club are much more involved
than what meets the eye. So I just ask that people stop and think for
a moment…are you sure that person is not doing enough for the
club or are you just not aware of what they are doing or how much work
is involved in what they do?
Also, for anyone who would like to be more involved
but feel you live too far away or cannot devote enough time, please
contact one of the
board members or committee chairs to see if there is anything you might
be able to do from your home. I’m sure there are many such tasks
out there that someone could use a hand with.
I, for one, enjoy being able to pick and choose what
tasks I do for the club while working behind the scenes in front of
my computer all
warm and cozy at home.
