BACK TO THE
TRACK
Getting back to
doing what we do out here. The
weekend of May 21-22 saw both the return of summer-like conditions
and the return of some old school Dead Weight tractor pulling to the
MMOGTA Showgrounds. As usual, it was a 2 day pulling weekend,
although other obligations kept me away from the T-Sled event on
Sunday. As you all know, life seems to get more concentrated during
the summer season, as we try to pack all those extra outdoor
activities into the warm, sunlit days we have waited so long to
enjoy.
While the T-Sled is
the way to go
when you have to accommodate larger numbers of participants, Dead
Weight is often more fun for the pullers, as they get a little more
seat time and a few more turns on the track. It really represents
the way tractor pulling got started, before technology intervened. It
also entails a different skill-set on the part of the drivers,
maybe a little more patience as well. This past weekend saw a decent
turnout of players, ranging from beginners to well seasoned pullers.
Their results would vary, as always, some took home a nice rack of
trophies, most got sunburned, and all had a good time. Below you
will find a random sampling of photos from the event, ranging from
the winners to the watchers, whatever happened to look interesting
through my own particular lens. Hope to see you all at the track
when the June events roll around.
