The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. A Teachable Moment

Another MMOGTA Rural Education day is in the history book, and it was a huge success by any measure. Over 500 kids, mostly 4th-5th grade elementary students from schools all around the area, were in attendance. Though the sky remained cloud-covered most of the day, temperatures were moderate and most importantly, all stayed dry. Happy, smiling faces were seen on excited kids all around the Showgrounds, as they were led on their tours of some 23 work/demonstration stations. Not all had the time to hit all the attractions, but all enjoyed a full day of non-standard education and entertainment. We gave them a chance to look through our window into the past and experience a way of life and work that would likely have been familiar to their grand and great grandparents.

The many work stations were manned by volunteers, including members and non-members, all of whom seemed to enjoy the experience as much as the kids. By my informal count after the busses had left, there were in excess of 60 workers who gave of their time, talents, and knowledge to help make the day a very worthwhile endeavor. We also thank the many businesses and individuals who donated to various aspects of the program, including the free lunch that all students were provided. (See note in one of the photo frames below)

We leave you with some random photo memories of the day:
