The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. The Ninth Month

The casual observer might think our busy season is over after the big August show, but nothing could be farther from the truth in 2010. What a month! September, of course started off with the big Labor Day weekend, not an official event at the Showgrounds, just a good camping opportunity for some. But after that brief respite, things got pretty intense around here. Two scheduled cement pulls, Bridge Crossing, Board meeting, regular meeting, Education Day, Dead Boat Pull, T-Sled Pull, and of course, the much heralded Koski Brother’s auction (technically in October, I know).

Fall is a season of transition in the North Temperate Zone, and pretty much anything can happen in terms of weather, not all of it to our liking. We watched the cement pull get rained out, suffered through Bill’s auction on what turned out to be a genuinely miserable day, sandwiched between two beautiful, sunny Fall days. Such is life. Education Day was a huge success, threatened but not delayed by showers, buffeted by gale force winds. Weather aside, the kids never stopped smiling, having fun, and learning.

Despite the weather, the auction was a big success, providing great buying opportunities on a world-wide scale, and great entertainment for us “Po’ Boys” as we watched the war of the wallets. What a treat just to see those rare items displayed and sold, right here in our own front yard.

On that same weekend, the Steam Barn crew was busy transporting our new, gigantic Steam Engine, and the Wickes Gang Saw, which come to us from the Saginaw County Historical Society. Some pretty impressive pieces of history, temporarily resting in the center aisle of the Steam Barn, while they await their final location.

Coming up (at this writing) we hope for a comfortable day for the annual Worker’s Appreciation Party scheduled to follow our last meeting at the Showgrounds for 2010. The week preceding the meeting has been a spectacular series of beautiful, sunny, October days, allowing local farmers some perfect harvesting opportunities.

We leave you with a few pics to remember the ninth month.
