The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. “It’s the Bob and Tom Show..”

No, it’s not the funny guys you listen to on your car radio during your morning commute, this was something a little more local. Bob Baumgrass (Owosso Tractor Parts), and Tom Collison spent a good deal of time and effort to produce their own (second annual) neighborhood tractor show last weekend, and those who attended were the beneficiaries. When an event of this type occurs within the touring range of the Escort, I feel almost obligated to represent the good people of Fergus by attending in person.

Under the burden of some rather oppressive humidity, the many exhibitors displayed well over 50 tractors to fill the field in front of Owosso Tractor Parts on W M-21 near Carland Rd. A free lunch was provided with plenty of seating available, both inside and out. A local group provided some classic country music in the big tent, while the traffic on the highway just a few feet away did double-takes as the multi colored display of antique tractors caught their eye.

During the afternoon, Jim Aldrich and friends organized a series of tractor driving contests to keep both the participants and the spectators entertained. Such skills as backing two and four wheeled trailers and wagons, precision driving, a slow race, and others, were included to keep everyone busy. The highlight event of the show was called a “Tractor Trek”, as many of the exhibitors took their prized machines for a ceremonial lap around the track at Owosso Speedway, just across the road. They were said to have received a nice round of applause from the bleachers as they took their turn on the oval during an intermission between race events.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the folks at Owosso Tractor Parts for their hospitality and all the fun, as well as for being long time loyal supporters of everything we do here at MMOGTA.

We leave you with a few random pics from the event. (click individual photos to enlarge)
