The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. 'Tis the Season

Well, it was, for a few minutes there. I know, that seems to be a chronic complaint in this space, but here we are dancing to Mother Nature's off key tune again. We barely got off the ground with Test-N-Tune day, cold, damp, and grey. The next Saturday, full of unwarranted optimism, we head off to the Shepherd Cement Pull, a day that dawned warm and summery, only to be twice chased off the field by rain. Our own scheduled Opening Day T-Sled pull, wellll, let's just say it was better suited to the kind of “boat” that one might go fishing with. And those are only the repercussions to the games we play. Let's be mindful that the stakes are a bit higher in the real world where the real tractor business takes place, the farming industry. Some in the area already had crops in the field, which are now at risk. Others will be set back a considerable amount of time by the continuing rain and cold soil temps, not to mention the considerable expenditure of time and materials in advance of the planting season. As always, here in MI, there's plenty of misery to go around. In local Oakley a weather related power failure even made the evening news. You'll have to trust me on this, it is fairly rare to see a live news remote originating in Oakley, interviewing locals at one of the favorite watering holes. Aside from the MMOGTA Tractor Show and events, Oakley does not generate a whole lot of headlines, and that's just the way most of us small town folk like it.

That being said, I repeat this phrase every year, “Nothing is as inevitable as Spring”. I stand by that statement. Whether Mother Nature, fickle old bat that she is, cooperates or not, we have begun our outdoor season. The upcoming May 3rd meeting will be our first at the Showgrounds, and even though the season just got a little longer by adding in the T-Sled rain date, we're here to stay. We'll bring you along on our first couple of outings by posting a few random photos, both from our own Test-N-Tune day, and the Shepherd Cement Pull. (click individual photos to enlarge)
