The contents of the “Weekly Feature” page are provided to you for your entertainment, amusement, and perhaps information. Here you may find articles of interest, pictures, historical information on the Club, or whatever shuffles to the top of the pile on our desk. The only defined characteristic of this space is that we will make every effort to change/replace it around the middle of each week. Thank you for visiting, and please stop by again. A.D. Baker Photos from the Past
Local Interest

In keeping with our 2008 Featured Brand, the A.D. Baker manufacturing company of Swanton OH, we received these photos from the Sauder Village museum, which is the resting place of much of the Baker family history. What is particularly interesting is the fact that some of the threshing scenes pictured took place in the New Lothrop MI area, and certainly some of the names listed on the backs of the postcards are still familiar in the Maple Grove Twp area. It's also fun to note the peripheral details in the photos, the old farmstead on the hill, the Depot in Chelsea MI, the rough looking characters on the crew, the size of the strawstack in the one picture indicates that they had been threshing in that spot for quite some time. Those stacks could have housed a whole community of vagrants during the Depression era (though these pictures pre-dated that time). These pictures were apparently sent back to the Baker factory from satisfied customers, and then put on postcards for use as testimonials, I suppose. I will add a few of the postcard backs that show some of the names involved.
